Overview of the EREF Scholarship program:

EREF Scholarships are awarded to recognize excellence in waste management research and education at the graduate level. Recipients receive a monthly stipend from the time of the award until graduation and are required to work on projects related to solid waste issues. During their tenure, scholars are integrated into industry events such as conferences and fundraisers, and facilitated visits to companies in the industry.

Eligibility criteria of the EREF Scholarship program:

  • Be full-time master's or doctoral students.
  • Demonstrate a clear interest in solid waste management research.
  • EREF defines solid waste management to include municipal solid waste, construction and demolition waste, industrial waste (e.g., coal ash), waste-to-energy ash, etc., but excludes agricultural wastes or wastewater treatment plant sludge.
