Clean Tech Internships

The Career Launcher Clean Tech Internship Program provides wage subsidies to employers in Canada’s clean technology sector to hire recent graduates for internships that build green skills and support the transition to a low-carbon economy.

Overview of the Clean Tech Internships program:

The Clean Tech Internship Program, managed by Career Launcher and funded by Natural Resources Canada’s Science and Technology Internship Program (STIP – Green Jobs), helps Canadian employers grow their capacity in clean technology by offering financial support to hire youth interns for environmental and sustainability-focused roles. This national initiative provides wage subsidies of up to $32,000 per intern to eligible employers who hire recent post-secondary graduates in full-time, 6- to 12-month internships. These internships must be related to the clean growth economy, encompassing sectors such as renewable energy, energy efficiency, sustainable transportation, environmental protection, and carbon reduction technologies. The program’s goal is twofold: to support employers working on clean tech solutions and to create meaningful work experiences for young Canadians (aged 30 and under) who are unemployed or underemployed. Through this initiative, interns can gain crucial skills and experience, while employers can expand their teams and accelerate green innovation. Employers are responsible for recruiting suitable candidates and must offer placements that support skill development, mentorship, and long-term career potential. The program is competitive and prioritizes placements that benefit equity-deserving groups, including Indigenous peoples, racialized individuals, women in STEM, and persons with disabilities.
