  • Government of Alberta
Overview of the Heritage Preservation Partnership Program (HPPP) program:

The Heritage Awareness Grants program, administered by Alberta Culture, supports projects that build awareness of Alberta’s rich and diverse heritage, including its history, traditions, languages, and cultural practices. The program is designed to fund initiatives that document, preserve, and share Alberta’s stories, especially those of Indigenous communities, Francophone groups, immigrants, and other underrepresented populations. Eligible projects can include research, publications, exhibitions, digital storytelling, oral history collection, interpretive materials, and education programs. The grant is open to non-profit organizations, municipalities, Indigenous communities, post-secondary institutions, and individuals undertaking significant heritage-related work. Priority is given to projects that promote broad public access and engagement, use inclusive methodologies, and align with Alberta’s broader cultural and historical priorities. Grants are awarded through a competitive, adjudicated process, and funding is intended to support both new projects and the enhancement or completion of ongoing initiatives. Applicants must demonstrate clear objectives, a detailed project plan, timelines, and a viable budget. The program plays a key role in preserving Alberta’s intangible and tangible cultural heritage by enabling communities and researchers to create resources and experiences that inform, educate, and inspire current and future generations.
