Overview of the Northern Community Capacity Building Program - Event Partnership program:

The NOHFC Cultural Supports Program: Community Events Stream is a funding initiative offered by the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC). This program is designed to support community events that promote cultural development, tourism, and economic growth in Northern Ontario. The program aims to enhance the region’s cultural vibrancy by funding events that attract visitors, showcase local talent, and foster community engagement. Through this program, NOHFC seeks to strengthen the cultural fabric of Northern Ontario and stimulate local economies.

Benefits of the Northern Community Capacity Building Program - Event Partnership program:
  • The conditional contribution successful applicants will receive varies depending on the type of project. For major tourism events the amount of assistance will usually not exceed the lesser of 30% of eligible costs or up to $100,000. Event partnership project funding will generally not exceed the lesser of 30% of eligible costs or $15,000.
Eligibility criteria of the Northern Community Capacity Building Program - Event Partnership program:
  • Applications will be evaluated using the following criteria:
  • Level of investment from other sources
  • Anticipated attendance numbers
  • Level of tourism expenditures
  • Likelihood of NOHFC funding improving the quality of the event
  • Likelihood of NOHFC funding contributing to the sustainability of the event
  • Economic impact at a municipal, regional or provincial level
  • The impact of possible NOHFC funding on the viability and scope of a proposed event
