Overview of the Community League Operating Grant program:

The Community League Operating Grant (CLOG) is a financial assistance program provided by the City of Edmonton aimed at strengthening the foundational capacity of Edmonton’s community leagues. The program acknowledges the vital role these grassroots organizations play in fostering community spirit, social inclusion, recreation, and citizen engagement. Community leagues in Edmonton are eligible for annual operating funding to help offset core operating expenses such as utilities, insurance, administrative costs, and minor repairs. In addition to supporting essential services, the grant empowers leagues to offer programming and maintain facilities that benefit local residents. The funding also contributes to sustaining a strong network of leagues that are well-positioned to engage with local government and serve as neighborhood advocates. The CLOG is administered in collaboration with the Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues (EFCL), which works closely with the city to ensure leagues meet the eligibility criteria and have access to guidance and support throughout the application process. The program encourages accountability by requiring leagues to maintain good standing, submit annual reports, and demonstrate active community engagement. The grant allocation is partly based on league size, facilities, and operational needs, ensuring equitable distribution of resources.
