Overview of the NRC IRAP support for clean technology program:

Clean technology provides environmental benefits for Canada and improves the economic prosperity. Small and medium-sized businesses in Canada that are working on clean technology — whether they are developing it, testing it, or bringing it to market — are now eligible for support from the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP).

Benefits of the NRC IRAP support for clean technology program:
  • NRC IRAP provides support to Canadian clean technology SMEs:
  • Trusted advisors who offer technical and business advisory services
  • Referrals to Canadian cleantech innovation ecosystem partners
  • Funding to jump-start promising clean technologies from proof of concept through to larger-scale, multi-year projects that create long-term environmental benefits
  • Additional support available for clean tech projects:
    • Supported costs can include the staff and materials needed to execute the project
    • Upfront funding where specific needs exist
Eligibility criteria of the NRC IRAP support for clean technology program:
  • SMEs must meet the following criteria:
  • For-profit business incorporated in Canada
  • Maximum of 500 full-time employees working in Canada
  • Paid full-time employees, other than the founders, that include both technical and business employees
  • Seeking business growth through development and demonstration of innovative and technology-driven products, services or processes
  • Developing new clean technologies for commercialization
  • Have a plan for providing environmental benefits, such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving air, soil, or water quality
