Legacy Grants Program

A one-time grant program offering up to $5 million in total funding to support bold and innovative projects that enhance legal education, research, aid, libraries, or law reform in Saskatchewan.
  • Law Foundation of Saskatchewan (LFS)
Overview of the Legacy Grants Program program:

The Law Foundation of Saskatchewan’s Legacy Grants Program is a major funding initiative designed to empower non-profit organizations and registered charities to advance justice and strengthen the province’s legal infrastructure. The program seeks projects that demonstrate innovation, long-term sustainability, and measurable impact on individuals, organizations, communities, or systems. Eligible projects must focus on one or more of the Foundation’s core objectives: legal education, legal research, legal aid, law libraries, or law reform. Legacy Grants are unique in that they are awarded in addition to the Foundation’s regular grant programs, making this a special one-time funding opportunity for larger-scale or transformative initiatives.

Benefits of the Legacy Grants Program program:
  • Access to large-scale, one-time funding ($50,000+).
  • Opportunity to fund innovative, transformative, or capacity-building legal projects.
  • Open to operational, capital, and pilot initiatives.
  • Potential to improve access to justice across Saskatchewan.
  • Alignment with long-term justice system improvement goals.
  • Flexible project length (up to 3 years).
Eligibility criteria of the Legacy Grants Program program:
  • Eligible applicants: Non-profit organizations and registered charities.
  • Geographic focus: Projects must primarily benefit Saskatchewan residents.
