Overview of the Storytelling Development Fund program:

The Storytelling Development Fund is available for scriptwriting costs required for film, TV and screen-based projects. A registered Prince Edward Island Production Company can receive up to 50% of project costs through the fund. The department’s contribution will not exceed 50% of eligible costs and normally not exceed a maximum of $5,000.

Benefits of the Storytelling Development Fund program:
  • The "Fund" will give priority to applications that demonstrate how the project achieves the following objectives:
  • Supports the creation and development of film, TV and screen-based script projects by Prince Edward Island filmmakers.
  • Strengthens the film, TV and screen-based industry by developing new Prince Edward Island filmmakers, writers, and producers.
  • Provides for inclusion and gender parity.
  • Projects must have all of the following:
  • A Prince Edward Island producer whose production company is registered in PEI; and
  • A Prince Edward Island writer (who has maintained their primary residence in PEI for at least 12 months prior to the application submission date)
Eligibility criteria of the Storytelling Development Fund program:
  • Eligible applicants are Prince Edward Island producers and/or production companies.
  • New project submissions from an applicant in default on any reporting, project completion or financial obligation to Innovation PEI will not be reviewed until a resolution to the default is reached.
  • Eligible Expenses:
  • Option fees for literary material;
  • Writer and producer fees; and
  • Research or travel expenses.
