The Alliance Grants Program by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) promotes collaboration between Canadian businesses and academic researchers to advance innovation. The program offers funding to support research and development projects that address industry challenges, covering costs such as personnel, equipment, and materials. Open to both businesses and post-secondary institutions, the program encourages joint proposals that outline research goals and methods. By facilitating access to cutting-edge research and academic expertise, the Alliance Grants Program aims to drive technological advancements and foster economic growth through strengthened industry-academic partnerships.

Eligibility criteria of the Alliance Advantage program:
  • You must be a Canadian university researcher eligible to receive NSERC funds.
  • You can apply individually or as part of a team with other eligible academic researchers.
  • Your application must include at least one partner organization from the private, public, or not-for-profit sectors that can contribute to cost sharing.
  • You may also include additional partner organizations that play a key role in your project, regardless of their cost-sharing contributions.
  • Projects of varying scales and complexities are supported, from short-term, single-researcher projects to long-term initiatives involving multiple universities and numerous partner organizations across different sectors.
