Overview of the Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) and Hydrogen Program program:

The Clean Technology Program addresses sustainability while creating opportunity for economic diversification in Alberta. The Program invests in projects to adapt, develop, and deploy innovative clean technologies to benefit Albertans and contribute to the growth of the province’s low-carbon economy. In each of the priority focus areas, we look for projects and activities that can reduce environmental impacts, support Alberta’s energy transition, generate jobs in a clean tech economy, and engage industry, researchers, and communities to participate in their future energy systems. Carbon Capture, Utilization, Storage (CCUS) and Hydrogen are positioned to reduce emissions, diversify Alberta’s economy, and enable technologies that facilitate other clean technology focus areas. Specifically, CCUS and Hydrogen contributes to the decarbonization of energy systems, creates new end-use products, and achieves emissions reductions targets and net-zero goals.
