CCMA Art Grant

Overview of the CCMA Art Grant program:

The CCMA Art Grant is a unique cultural initiative spearheaded by the City of Kelowna to celebrate and visually honor the Canadian Country Music Awards (CCMA), which will be hosted in Kelowna in September 2025. The program is designed to fund the development and installation of original public art that reflects the essence, energy, and culture of Canadian country music. The selected artist or artist team will be commissioned to design and produce a new, site-specific artwork in a high-visibility public space within Kelowna. The aim is to enhance public space through culturally significant artwork and to leave a lasting legacy tied to the CCMA's presence in the city. This initiative is part of a broader celebration and community engagement effort, using art to promote regional identity and pride while celebrating Canadian music culture. Artists are encouraged to explore themes that intertwine music, place, and community. The City invites submissions from professional artists or artist teams with experience in public art creation and installation. The final piece is expected to be completed and installed before the CCMA event in fall 2025, serving as a cultural highlight and permanent reminder of the event's impact on the city.

Eligibility criteria of the CCMA Art Grant program:

• Open to professional artists or artist teams with a proven track record in public art.
• Must demonstrate the capacity to design, fabricate, and install durable, safe, and weather-resistant public art.
• Applicants must be residents of Canada and legally eligible to work in British Columbia.
• Artists should have prior experience working with municipal or public art commissions.
• The final design must be site-specific and integrate themes of country music and community.
• Preference may be given to artists with a connection to the Okanagan region.
• The selected artwork must be installed and completed before September 2025.
