Overview of the First Nations and Métis Community Partnership Projects program:

The First Nations and Métis Community Partnership Projects Fund, administered by the Ministry of Government Relations (First Nations and Métis Relations Unit), provides targeted financial support for projects that foster meaningful partnerships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous organizations. The program’s purpose is to advance reconciliation and strengthen cross-cultural relationships through collaborative, community-driven initiatives. Eligible projects must demonstrate a strong, active partnership with First Nations and/or Métis communities, agencies, or non-profit organizations, and must align with at least one of four provincial priority areas: safe communities, strong families, student achievement, or economic growth. The program encourages innovative, cross-sector collaborations that build local capacity, improve understanding, and contribute to tangible, lasting community benefits.

Benefits of the First Nations and Métis Community Partnership Projects program:
  • Under this grant program, successful applicants may be awarded a maximum of 40 per cent of the eligible project costs, not exceeding a total contribution of $45,000.
Eligibility criteria of the First Nations and Métis Community Partnership Projects program:
  • Eligible applicants:
  • Saskatchewan-based registered non-profits (minimum one fiscal year in operation).
  • First Nations, Tribal Councils, and Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN).
  • Metis NationSaskatchewan (MN-S), including its regions, locals, and affiliates.
  • Municipalities partnering authentically with Indigenous communities.
  • Eligibility conditions:
  • Non-Indigenous applicants must provide a Letter of Support from their Indigenous partner organization.
  • Must be in good standing with FNMR programs (no outstanding reports).
  • Must demonstrate a genuine partnership where partners contribute resources or expertise and hold a defined role in project implementation.
  • Ineligible applicants: individuals, for-profit corporations, unincorporated entities, or organizations without an Indigenous partner.
  • Project eligibility:
  • Must directly benefit Saskatchewan residents.
  • Must align with at least one of the four priority areas.
  • Cannot support ongoing programming or projects already more than 50% complete.
  • Cannot receive funding from more than one FNMR grant program for the same project.
