INSAT – The Initiative for Sustainable Aviation Technology

A Canadian accelerator program that supports early-stage startups developing innovative satellite and aerospace technologies through funding, mentorship, and technical resources.
Overview of the INSAT – The Initiative for Sustainable Aviation Technology program:

The INSAT (Innovation in Satellite Technologies) Program is a national initiative led by Strix, designed to accelerate the development and commercialization of novel satellite and aerospace technologies. Targeted toward early-stage Canadian startups, the program offers both technical and business support to help innovators navigate the complex aerospace sector, validate their technology, and access global markets. INSAT is structured as an equity-free accelerator program, meaning selected startups do not give up ownership in exchange for support. The program supports hardware and software-based space technologies, with a strong emphasis on scalable, dual-use applications (commercial and defence or civil). Examples include satellite payload development, launch technology, aerospace components, ground systems, space data processing, and mission-critical software. Selected ventures receive intensive mentorship, technical validation opportunities, and potential access to Strix’s network of aerospace partners, including space agencies, defence organizations, and investment communities. The program also helps startups prepare for institutional funding, non-dilutive capital, and larger accelerator rounds or procurement programs. INSAT typically runs in cohorts and is ideal for startups who are pre-seed to seed stage, aiming to raise funding, build pilots, or engage with procurement opportunities.
