Overview of the Entrepreneur-in-Residence Startup Program program:

TandemLaunch is a Montreal-based startup foundry that partners with entrepreneurs to build deep tech companies from scratch. This program invites entrepreneurial individuals to join their venture studio and help transform university research into successful startups. The program provides up to $600,000 in initial startup funding, with extensive operational support including legal setup, recruiting, R&D infrastructure, and coaching from experienced entrepreneurs-in-residence and advisors. Co-Founders work out of TandemLaunch's Montreal office full-time, and by the end of the program, they typically become a founding CEO, CTO, or CSO of a newly incorporated venture.

Benefits of the Entrepreneur-in-Residence Startup Program program:
  • Up to $600,000 CAD in initial funding for each startup, including stipends and business setup. This includes salaries/stipends for co-founders during the incubation period. Follow-on funding is available based on milestones and venture development
Eligibility criteria of the Entrepreneur-in-Residence Startup Program program:
  • To qualify for this program, the following criteria must be met:
  • For Technical Lead
  • Masters / PhD in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or similar technical fields
  • Proactive team player with leadership aspirations and hustle
  • Self-motivated and proactive personality with an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Strong communication skills to translate key features into salient benefits for technical and non-technical audiences
  • For Product Lead
  • Bachelors / Masters in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or similar technical fields
  • 2-5 years of experience in the industry
  • Experience in sales and business development roles is a plus
  • Self-motivated and proactive personality with an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Strong communication skills to translate key features into salient benefits for technical and non-technical audiences
