IP (Intellectual Property) Fund

The Intellectual Property (IP) Fund, administered by Ontario Creates, is a transformative funding initiative launching in January 2025
  • Ontario Creates
Overview of the IP (Intellectual Property) Fund program:

The IP Fund represents a consolidation of Ontario Creates’ former Film Fund and Interactive Digital Media (IDM) Fund, creating a unified program for screen-based content creation. This strategic move enhances the accessibility of funding opportunities while streamlining support for Ontario-based creators. The program is divided into two distinct streams: Linear Content Stream Supports projects like feature films and digital series. Focuses on providing funding for both production and early-stage development/pre-production activities. Interactive Content Stream Targets the creation of video games, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and other extended reality (XR) content. Provides support for projects that engage audiences through interactive storytelling and cutting-edge technology. The IP Fund aims to bolster Ontario’s reputation as a leader in screen-based media by investing in projects that demonstrate strong potential for audience engagement, revenue generation, and global reach. By supporting both development and production, the fund ensures creators have the resources to refine their ideas, enhance their marketability, and bring their projects to life. This initiative also emphasizes the importance of intellectual property ownership, encouraging Ontario-based creators to retain and commercialize their IP globally. The program supports projects that reflect cultural diversity, creativity, and innovation, aligning with Ontario Creates’ commitment to fostering inclusive and world-class creative industries.
