Overview of the LRCC Business Grant & Loan Program program:

The LRCC Business Grant & Loan Program supports Métis entrepreneurs in Manitoba by providing financial assistance for starting, acquiring, or expanding small businesses. The program offers up to $99,999 in grants and up to $250,000 in loans, with potential for higher loan amounts under certain conditions. To qualify, businesses must be at least 51% Métis-owned, with owners holding valid MMF Citizenship Cards and residing in Manitoba. Additionally, applicants must invest at least 10% of the total project costs in cash, and projects typically need to exceed $25,000, though smaller start-ups may be eligible under different initiatives. The program emphasizes viable projects with solid business plans.

Eligibility criteria of the LRCC Business Grant & Loan Program program:
  • Owners must contribute at least 10% of the total project costs in cash.
  • For instance, a $100,000.00 project requires a $10,000.00 cash investment.
  • Businesses must be registered in Manitoba.
  • At least 51% of the business must be Metis-owned, with owners holding valid MMF Citizenship Cards and residing in Manitoba.
  • At least one principal Metis-owner must be actively involved in the day-to-day operations and possess the necessary skills and knowledge for the business.
  • Projects must generally exceed $25,000.00, unless its for an existing business looking to expand.
