This program provides funding to local prospectors looking to identify the NWT’s next big mineral find by investing in the tools, equipment, and activities necessary to prospect.

Overview of the Prospecting Support Program program:

This program provides funding to local prospectors looking to identify the NWT’s next big mineral find by investing in the tools, equipment, and activities necessary to prospect. Under the Prospector Support Program schedule, up to $6,000 drawn over three years, can be provided to be used in purchasing tools and equipment; and purchasing supplies and services directly related to prospecting activity.

Benefits of the Prospecting Support Program program:
  • Up to $6,000 drawn over three years, can be provided to be used in purchasing tools and equipment; and purchasing supplies and services directly related to prospecting activity.
Eligibility criteria of the Prospecting Support Program program:
  • NWT Residents and entrepreneurs are encouraged to apply
  • To receive funding from the SEED program, applicant equity may be required. The terms of these requirements will depend on where you live and where your business is located.
  • Group 1 Communities (Yellowknife, Hay River, Inuvik, and Fort Smith) 30%
  • Group 2 Communities (All other communities within the NWT) 20%
