The Telefilm Canada Development Program is designed to support Canadian filmmakers, producers, and creators in the early stages of their audiovisual projects. The program provides financial assistance to help with the development of feature films, television series, and digital media content, including scriptwriting, research, and planning. The goal is to nurture innovative and high-potential projects that can eventually reach production and distribution stages. The Development Program has four streams: Prequalified Stream General Stream Indigenous Stream Stream for Black People and People of Colour

Eligibility criteria of the Development Program - Telefilm Canada tbr program:
  • Who Can Apply: The program is open to Canadian production companies that are majority-owned and controlled by Canadians. Individual producers must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents.
  • Project Requirements: The project must be a feature film, television series, or digital media content intended for theatrical release, broadcast, or digital distribution. It must be in the development stage (pre-production).
  • Company Criteria: Applicants must have a recent track record of producing similar projects, or demonstrate the capacity to develop and produce the type of project they are proposing.
