Overview of the Hire a young person program:

This program offers Ontario employers the opportunity to hire young individuals aged 15 to 29 by providing access to job-ready candidates who have undergone preparatory workshops. Employers receive ongoing support from job coaches and may be eligible for financial incentives to offset hiring and training expenses. The program encompasses several components: Employment Service: Facilitates job placements with on-the-job training incentives. Youth Job Connection: Targets youth aged 15 to 29, offering intensive support and training. Youth Job Connection Summer: Focuses on youth aged 15 to 18, providing summer employment opportunities. These initiatives aim to integrate young individuals into the workforce while supporting employers in building a skilled team.

Eligibility criteria of the Hire a young person program:

  • Offer job opportunities within Ontario.
  • Note: Federal government employers are not eligible for Youth Job Connection or Youth Job Connection Summer. Additionally, employers receiving other government financial support for a specific position are not eligible for this program.
