Land and Biodiversity Program

The Clean Resources Program by Alberta Innovates is designed to support and accelerate projects focused on clean technology, environmental innovation, and sustainable resource development.
  • Alberta Innovates
Overview of the Land and Biodiversity Program program:

This program provides targeted funding for Alberta-based or Alberta-beneficial projects in sectors including renewable energy, hydrocarbon innovation, environmental sustainability, and resource management. Key project areas include cleaner hydrocarbon production, renewable and alternative energy sources, carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS), biodiversity, and water innovation. Projects can focus on two types: knowledge generation to advance research and best practices, and technology commercialization to bring new solutions to market. Alberta Innovates encourages collaboration with local institutions and industries, especially for initiatives that contribute to greenhouse gas reduction, land reclamation, water conservation, and biodiversity preservation. Funding is provided based on specific project milestones and is contingent upon meeting Alberta’s long-term sustainability and economic goals.

Benefits of the Land and Biodiversity Program program:
  • Participants benefit from:
  • Up to $2 million in funding to support clean resource projects.
  • Guidance from Alberta Innovates Project Advisors throughout the project.
