Overview of the Stocker Loans program:

The Stocker Loan Program, offered by the Manitoba Agricultural Services Corporation (MASC), is designed to support Manitoba's livestock producers by providing affordable financing for purchasing feeder cattle, sheep, and goats. This program helps producers manage cash flow, reduce the upfront financial burden of purchasing livestock, and ultimately enhance their operational capacity and profitability.

Benefits of the Stocker Loans program:
  • Low-Interest Financing: The program offers competitive interest rates, making it more affordable for producers to purchase livestock without straining their cash flow.
  • Flexible Repayment Terms: Loans can be structured with flexible repayment terms that align with the producers sales schedule, allowing for better financial management.
  • Increased Operational Capacity: By accessing this financing, producers can purchase more livestock than they might be able to otherwise, increasing their potential for growth and profitability.
  • Reduced Financial Risk: The program allows producers to spread out the cost of purchasing livestock, which can help mitigate financial risks associated with market fluctuations or other unforeseen challenges.
Eligibility criteria of the Stocker Loans program:
  • Livestock qualifications for application:
  • Cattle must have a minimum weight of 400 lbs (181 kg) to be eligible for a Stocker Loan.
