To offer producers the opportunity to boost their calf production and help fulfill a shortfall of Ontario calves to feedlots.

Overview of the Beef Breeder Co-operative Program program:

The Ontario Beef Breeder Co-operative Program is supported by the Beef Farmers of Ontario. Seven co-ops have been formed in various regions of the province to provide members with loans to purchase beef breeding females. To check if your area is covered by a breeder co-op, please see the list below.

Benefits of the Beef Breeder Co-operative Program program:
  • After becoming a member, producer applies for a purchase order for the amount of anticipated breeding livestock purchase, loan of $75,000+ depending on the co-operative.
  • Attractive interest rate.
  • Annual payments with loan
  • Financed over five years.
  • Financing up to 100%.
  • Loans may be obtained for replacement heifers, youthful cows, or cow-calf pairs.
  • Limited financial information required for application.
  • Lending is based on the producers integrity and ability to feed and manage a cow herd.
  • Co-operative supplies ID ear tags (not RFID), handles all paperwork for loan,
  • Administers all correspondence with the lender, and ensures the cat
Eligibility criteria of the Beef Breeder Co-operative Program program:
  • Eligible members include individuals who are at least 18 years of age and who are landowners or who rent land, or are voting shareholders in partnerships or corporations owning land in Ontario.
