Overview of the Black Youth Business Program (BYBP) program:

The Black Youth Business Program (BYBP), run by the Black Entrepreneurs and Businesses of Canada Society (BEBC), is a comprehensive initiative aimed at fostering entrepreneurship among Black youth aged 18–29 in British Columbia. This programme is designed to break down systemic barriers faced by Black youth by providing culturally informed business education, hands-on training, mentorship, and access to funding opportunities. Over a 12-week cohort-based schedule, participants receive intensive business training on subjects like business planning, marketing, finance, and legal considerations. Additionally, the programme connects participants with seasoned Black mentors who guide them through real-world business challenges and provide insights grounded in lived experience. The curriculum is supplemented by access to networking opportunities, pitch competitions, and the potential to receive microgrants or seed funding to launch or grow their business ventures. Delivered both online and in-person, BYBP creates a supportive environment specifically tailored to the unique cultural, economic, and social experiences of Black youth. Ultimately, the programme aims to strengthen the Black business community in British Columbia and foster sustainable, youth-led economic development.
