Community Impact Fund

The Community Impact Fund (CIF) via the Annual Investment Process is an annual grant-making initiative by United Way HPE to support nonprofit organizations delivering programs in the Hastings / Prince Edward counties region.

Overview of the Community Impact Fund program:

United Way Hastings & Prince Edward’s Community Impact Fund supports programs that improve the lives of children, youth, families, and vulnerable community members. Funded initiatives enhance access to mental health and developmental supports, safe and inclusive recreation, housing, food security, employment, and essential services. Programs also strengthen personal well-being, foster community connections, and promote belonging. All programs are expected to demonstrate measurable outcomes, operate under strong governance, collaborate with partners, and align with United Way HPE’s Community Impact Strategy.

Benefits of the Community Impact Fund program:
  • Programs funded by United Way Hastings & Prince Edward provide direct support to children, youth, families, and vulnerable community members. Benefits include improved mental health and well-being, access to safe and inclusive recreational opportunities, stable housing, food security, employment and life skills development, and stronger community connections. Programs foster personal growth, social inclusion, and a sense of belonging, while promoting measurable, long-term positive outcomes for individuals and the community as a whole.
Eligibility criteria of the Community Impact Fund program:
  • Every application organization must complete a Pre-Qualification as part of the online application to ensure compliance with criteria. Basic eligibility for United Way Hastings & Prince Edward includes, but is not limited to, the following.
  • The agency must align with United Way Hastings & Prince Edward Community Impact Strategy and,
  • The organization provides services to residents of Hastings County and/or Prince Edward County and,
  • A volunteer Board of Directors governs the agency and,
  • The agency provides audited annual financial statements (or a review engagement) and,
  • The agency is sustainable, stable, and strong and,
  • The organization complies with the Ontario Human Rights Code in its service delivery, employment practices and volunteer board leadership and,
  • The organization aligns with United Way Hastings & Prince Edwards mission, vision and values statements and with UWHPEs guiding principles and,
  • The organization must be a qualified donee under Canada Revenue Agency
