Community Support Organizations Operating Funding

The Community Support Organizations Operating Funding program provides ongoing financial support to Alberta-based organizations that deliver sector-wide services, resources, and development opportunities to the broader arts community.
  • Alberta Foundation for the Arts
Overview of the Community Support Organizations Operating Funding program:

This funding stream is designed to help nonprofit organizations whose primary focus is to strengthen Alberta’s arts ecosystem by offering programs, training, advocacy, and resources that benefit artists, collectives, and arts organizations across disciplines and regions. These organizations operate at a provincial or regional level, and their work is considered foundational to the sustainability and development of Alberta’s arts sector. Funding helps cover annual operating expenses required to deliver these services, such as staffing, administration, program delivery, communication, and outreach. To qualify, applicants must demonstrate consistent and measurable contributions to the professional arts community in Alberta, show solid governance, and maintain clear planning and evaluation frameworks. Applicants are assessed through a multi-year review cycle, and continued funding is contingent upon annual reporting and strategic alignment with AFA’s priorities.
