Overview of the Start-Up Loans Program program:

The WEMB Start-Up Loans program, offered by Wabasca Entrepreneurial & Marketing Board (WEMB), is designed to help Indigenous entrepreneurs take their first steps into business ownership. This loan-based initiative aims to reduce financial barriers for start-ups by offering accessible funding to help cover essential early-stage business costs. Whether the funds are needed for equipment, inventory, marketing, or other start-up expenses, WEMB’s support is tailored to the specific needs of each applicant. The program promotes economic development and self-sufficiency within Manitoba, providing not only capital but also guidance throughout the early phases of business development. This loan complements WEMB’s broader mission to foster entrepreneurship and create sustainable, community-driven enterprises. Importantly, the loans are structured with flexible repayment terms, and the organization provides continued assistance during the loan lifecycle. The program places a strong emphasis on supporting members of the Bigstone Cree Nation and other Treaty 8 members who may face unique challenges when starting a business. This inclusive, community-oriented funding model helps bridge financial gaps and stimulate long-term economic empowerment in Manitoba.
