Overview of the Growing & Harvesting Collective Action - The Gathering program:

Be a part of The Gathering 2024, an event where Manitoba’s community builders come together to connect, learn, and celebrate success. Scheduled for October 25, 2024, this 22nd annual event will focus on exploring collective action for Community Economic Development, providing a unique opportunity for collaboration and inspiration. They are currently seeking proposals for workshops, panels, and presentations that can facilitate engaging connections among participants and offer innovative ideas for the community. If you have creative ideas on how to foster collaboration and drive positive change, we encourage you to submit your proposals by August 12, 2024. This pay-what-you-can event is open to everyone, from community organization staff and civil servants to funders, students, academics, and anyone interested in community development. Don’t miss this chance to be part of a dynamic day of learning and networking—join us in making a difference!

Benefits of the Growing & Harvesting Collective Action - The Gathering program:
  • The event has four main objectives:
  • Networking and Information Sharing:
    • Connect participants to share knowledge and build partnerships, essential for successful community work.
  • Mentorship and Peer Learning:
    • Exchange experiences and insights on creating inclusive communities and sustainable economies.
    • Mentor new and young community builders.
    • Celebrate achievements in community development.
  • Action and Innovation:
    • Provide a space for trying new ideas and methods.
    • Expand understanding of Community Economic Development.
  • Agenda Setting:
    • Discuss key issues, challenges, and ideas for the future of community building.
    • Explore ways to lead social, economic, and environmental changes.
Eligibility criteria of the Growing & Harvesting Collective Action - The Gathering program:
  • To qualify, your proposal should include programming that relates to one or more of the following topics, based on the event's theme:
  • Action, advocacy, community organizing, and activism for change
  • Creating healthy and equitable workplaces
  • Building fairer local economies
  • Care for the environment and sustainability
  • Collaboration & working together
  • Embracing change
  • Economic reconciliation
