The Professional Development for Artists component of the Canada Council for the Arts' Explore and Create program supports the career growth of Canadian artists and artistic groups by encouraging participation in a wide range of development opportunities. Grants fund activities that contribute to the professional advancement of Canadian artists working in all artistic disciplines.

Eligibility criteria of the Professional Development for Artists program:

• Eligibility for Applicants
• Be an individual artist or a member of an artistic group residing in Canada.
• Work in any artistic discipline, such as visual arts, music, dance, literature, theater, media arts, or interdisciplinary fields.
• Demonstrate that the proposed activity is directly related to their professional development.
• Activity Requirements
• The activity must align with professional development goals and involve learning, training, or mentorship.
• Proposed activities cannot begin before the project start date provided in the application.
• Activities that are already funded by another Canada Council program are not eligible.
• Application Assistance
• Artists who are Deaf, hard of hearing, have disabilities, or face mental health challenges may be eligible for additional support.
• Indigenous artists encountering cultural, geographic, or linguistic barriers can also access tailored application assistance.
