Eligibility criteria of the Professional Development for Artists program:
  • Eligibility for Applicants
  • Be an individual artist or a member of an artistic group residing in Canada.
  • Work in any artistic discipline, such as visual arts, music, dance, literature, theater, media arts, or interdisciplinary fields.
  • Demonstrate that the proposed activity is directly related to their professional development.
  • Activity Requirements
  • The activity must align with professional development goals and involve learning, training, or mentorship.
  • Proposed activities cannot begin before the project start date provided in the application.
  • Activities that are already funded by another Canada Council program are not eligible.
  • Application Assistance
  • Artists who are Deaf, hard of hearing, have disabilities, or face mental health challenges may be eligible for additional support.
  • Indigenous artists encountering cultural, geographic, or linguistic barriers can also access tailored application assistance.
