The Ontario Arts Council’s (OAC) Recommender Grants for Theatre Creators program supports emerging and established theatre creators based in Ontario. The program provides funding to individuals or collectives developing new theatrical works, with grants allocated by participating theatre organizations, known as "Recommenders."

Eligibility criteria of the Recommender Grants for Theatre Creators program:
  • Location: Applicants must be Ontario-based (individuals or collectives) and the project must be developed in Ontario.
  • Type of Applicant: The program is open to individual theatre creators or collectives (both emerging and established). Collectives must have at least 50% of their members based in Ontario.
  • Type of Project: Theatrical works in the development stage. The project must be new and original.
  • Who It's For: Open to a broad range of theatre genres and creators, including playwrights, directors, and producers.
