The Richardson Foundation, an initiative of Richardson International, demonstrates the company's strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life in the communities where its employees and customers live and work. Annually, it provides over $1 million in funding to support a range of impactful projects across Canada.

Overview of the Supporting our Communities program:

Established to commemorate the centennial anniversary of James A. Richardson & Sons, Limited, the Richardson Foundation seeks to contribute to the well-being and development of Canadian communities through targeted financial support. This program prioritizes registered charitable organizations that align with the Foundation’s core focus areas: Visual and Performing Arts: Funding projects that enhance cultural experiences, such as art installations, theater productions, music performances, and arts education programs. Education: Supporting educational opportunities across age groups, including scholarships, literacy initiatives, and community-based learning programs. Youth Initiatives: Empowering young people through sports programs, mentorship opportunities, and leadership training. Environmental Issues: Promoting sustainable practices, conservation efforts, and initiatives that address local ecological concerns. Richardson International also extends support through its regional divisions to projects that have tangible impacts on communities, such as: Building and upgrading splash parks, playgrounds, and outdoor recreation spaces. Supporting the construction or maintenance of sports fields and community arenas. Funding the establishment or renovation of community halls that serve as hubs for local activities. Assisting volunteer fire departments, ensuring the safety and preparedness of communities.

Eligibility criteria of the Supporting our Communities program:
  • Eligible applicants must:
  • Be registered charitable organizations in Canada.
  • Operate in regions where Richardson International has a presence.
  • Propose projects aligned with the Foundations focus areas.
  • The Foundation does not support applications from:
  • Health and healthcare-related organizations.
  • Religious or sectarian groups.
  • Conferences, seminars, or similar events.
