The AICE - Validate program supports Alberta researchers and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with up to $300,000 to validate their product, market fit, business model, and regulatory path, accelerating commercialization of their health technologies into care.

The Accelerating Innovations into Care (AICE) - Validate Program by Alberta Innovates is designed to support the validation of innovative health technologies, services, or products in real-world clinical settings. This program aims to accelerate the translation of health innovations into the healthcare system, enhancing patient outcomes and creating economic benefits for Alberta. PLEASE NOTE* Applicants must submit Intake Forms at least 4 weeks in advance of the posted application deadline to be considered, and must submit their applications by 4:00 pm on the following submission dates: April 19, 2024 August 16, 2024 November 8, 2024

  • The AICE-Validate Program is designed for the following types of applicants:
  • Alberta-Based Post-Secondary Institutions and Government Entities:
  • These entities must have a clear intent to create a for-profit company to commercialize their technology.
  • Alberta-Based For-Profit SMEs:
  • SMEs must have a significant physical and operational presence in Alberta.
  • They should have appropriate ownership within Alberta.
  • There must be a clear intent that operational benefits will primarily flow within Alberta.
  • Ideal Applicants
  • Ideal applicants for the AICE-Validate Program typically exhibit the following
  • Characteristics:
  • Strong Proof-of-Concept Data:
  • Applicants should provide solid evidence demonstrating the viability of their technology.
  • Competitive Advantage:
  • The technology should outperform both direct and indirect competitors in the market.
  • Ownership or Exclusive Rights:
  • Applicants must have ownership or exclusive rights to the technology they intend to commercialize.
  • Experienced Management Team:
  • A well-rounded and experienced management team is crucial for the successful execution of the project.
  • Business Acceleration:
  • Completion of an accelerator or business coaching program is advantageous.
  • Emerging Technology:
  • The technology should preferably be digital or data-enabled, with the potential to generate cost-effective and beneficial health outcomes.
