The Large Arts Project Fund, administered by the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT), provides financial support for arts and culture organizations to execute large-scale projects that enhance the arts in the region.

Overview of the Arts Project Fund - Large program:

The program offers funding twice a year to help arts organizations cover the costs of producing large projects. Eligible projects must promote arts programming accessibility, provide creative and educational opportunities for residents, and increase the capacity of Northwest Territories (NWT) organizations to access territorial and federal funding opportunities. Funding can be used to pay for coordinators, northern artists' fees, venue and equipment rentals, material costs, and other project-related expenses. Projects are supported across various disciplines, including: Dance Digital Art Fashion Literary Arts Media Arts Music and Sound Theatre Arts Visual Arts and Crafts Multidisciplinary Art Organizations can apply for funding ranging from $10,000 to $100,000. The program's total annual budget is $450,000​.

Eligibility criteria of the Arts Project Fund - Large program:
  • Eligible applicants must:
  • Be NWT-based arts organizations registered under the NWT Societies Act and in good standing for at least one year.
  • Have completed and reported a previously funded Medium Arts Project or have a history of significant arts activity.
  • Preference is given to projects utilizing NWT resources and services.
  • Eligible Expenses:
  • Artist and performer fees
  • Venue and equipment rentals
  • Coordination fees
  • Project-related travel
  • Materials and supplies for exhibitions
  • Ineligible Expenses:
  • Operational costs
  • Capital expenses (e.g., tools, electronics)
  • Administration fees for board members
  • Costs covered under other GNWT programs.
