The Family Innovations Test Grant, offered by the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) through its Youth Opportunities Fund (YOF), supports grassroots groups led by parents, guardians, and caregivers in Ontario.

Overview of the Family Innovations Test Grant program:

The Family Innovations Test Grant empowers grassroots groups to pilot projects that explore innovative approaches to improving family well-being. These projects may include programs, tools, or strategies that address critical challenges such as: Strengthening Family Connections: Initiatives that help families build stronger relationships and support networks. Addressing Systemic Barriers: Projects that focus on dismantling inequities impacting Indigenous and Black families, such as challenges related to education, healthcare, housing, or employment. Community-Led Innovation: Programs co-designed and led by families to reflect their lived experiences and unique perspectives. Empowering Caregivers: Tools or strategies that equip parents and guardians with the resources and skills to better support their children. Projects may also include research efforts to better understand the needs of families and identify actionable solutions or strategies that can be scaled or sustained in the future. The grant covers a range of expenses, such as program materials, staffing, training, outreach, and community engagement efforts.

Eligibility criteria of the Family Innovations Test Grant program:

  • Be a grassroots group led by parents, guardians, or caregivers.
  • Project Requirements:
  • Propose a new and innovative project or strategy that addresses family challenges.
  • Focus on supporting families from Indigenous or Black communities.
  • Demographic Focus:
  • Projects must benefit families, with an emphasis on addressing systemic barriers that impact Indigenous (First Nations, Metis, or Inuit) and Black families.
  • Geography:
  • Operate within Ontario.
  • Ineligible Applicants:
  • Registered charities, for-profit organizations, and provincial or federal government bodies are not eligible.
