Mineral Exploration Program (YMEP)

The Yukon Mineral Exploration Program (YMEP) is a funding program designed to support individual prospectors and companies exploring for mineral occurrences by reimbursing a portion of the risk capital required to explore.
  • Government of Yukon
Overview of the Mineral Exploration Program (YMEP) program:

The Yukon Mineral Exploration Program (YMEP) provides financial support to prospectors and companies conducting early-stage exploration in the Yukon. This program is designed to encourage exploration activities that can lead to the discovery of new mineral resources in the region. By providing funding for grassroots exploration, YMEP aims to stimulate economic growth and attract further investment into Yukon's mining sector.

Benefits of the Mineral Exploration Program (YMEP) program:
  • Financial Support: The program offers up to 50% reimbursement of eligible expenses, reducing the financial risk for explorers.
  • Encouragement of Innovation: By supporting early-stage exploration, the program fosters innovation and the discovery of new mineral deposits.
  • Economic Growth: Successful exploration can lead to the development of new mines, boosting the local economy and creating jobs.
  • Attraction of Investment: YMEP can help attract additional private investment into the Yukon by reducing the upfront costs for exploration companies.
