Reconciliation Action Grant

The Reconciliation Action Grants under Oshki Wupoowane | The Blanket Fund, supported by the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund (DWF) and the Hudson’s Bay Foundation (HBF), aim to promote Indigenous cultural, artistic, and educational activities that foster reconciliation and cultural revitalization in Canada.

Overview of the Reconciliation Action Grant program:

Launched in September 2022, this initiative redistributes the proceeds from HBC Point Blanket sales to support Indigenous-led activities and events. The program funds initiatives that elevate Indigenous cultures, languages, and traditions, bridge understanding between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples, and drive reconciliation through community engagement, culture, art, and education.

Eligibility criteria of the Reconciliation Action Grant program:
  • Eligible Applicants: Indigenous educators, cultural creators, community leaders, Elders, youth, artists, and non-Indigenous organizations if all funds support Indigenous communities.
  • Eligible Projects: Initiatives that directly impact Indigenous people, including cultural, artistic, and educational activities that bring Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples together.
  • Ineligible: For-profit entities, fundraising projects, or activities started before the grant is awarded.
