Overview of the Indigenous Youth Entrepreneurship (IYE) Program program:

The Indigenous Youth Entrepreneurship (IYE) Program, administered by the Nishnawbe Aski Development Fund (NADF), is dedicated to empowering young Indigenous entrepreneurs across Northern Ontario. This initiative helps youth aged 18 to 39 transform their business ideas into viable enterprises through a combination of accessible financing, one-on-one business support, and targeted training opportunities. The program is structured to provide smaller-scale loans and grants that bridge the gap often faced by Indigenous youth who lack access to traditional credit systems. Participants receive not only financial assistance but also ongoing mentorship, business planning guidance, and access to specialized workshops that focus on developing entrepreneurial skills, financial literacy, and growth strategies. The program places strong emphasis on community impact, encouraging youth to create sustainable businesses that enhance local economic development and self-sufficiency. The funding structure combines a mix of equity, grants, and loans, reducing financial risk for new entrepreneurs while building their credit and confidence. The IYE Program fosters peer connections and networking opportunities, ensuring participants are supported through every stage of their business journey—from ideation to implementation. It operates on a rolling intake but encourages early applications due to limited annual funding availability.
