Overview of the Community Grant Program (Saskatoon) program:

The Saskatchewan Lotteries Community Grant Program (CGP) supports non-profit organizations in Saskatchewan by funding sports, culture, and recreation projects. The program is administered through local governments and aims to ensure equitable access regardless of age, sex, ethnicity, economic status, or physical or mental ability. A portion of the grant must specifically address the needs of target populations, including Indigenous people, seniors, women, economically disadvantaged individuals, persons with disabilities, new Canadians, and single parents. The goals of this grant program are: • to provide access to sport, culture, and recreation programs for all Saskatchewan people regardless of age, sex, ethnicity, economic status, physical, or mental ability; • to support the development and maintenance of sport, culture, and recreation programs and activities; and, • to increase the awareness of the benefits of participation in sport, culture, and recreation programs as a way of improving individual health, well-being, and self-fulfillment.

Eligibility criteria of the Community Grant Program (Saskatoon) program:
  • Who Can Apply?
  • Applicants must be non-profit community organizations operating in Saskatchewan.
  • Programs must prioritize inclusivity and meet the target population requirements.
  • Who Cant Apply?
  • For-profit businesses (Business Improvement Districts, however, are eligible to apply);
  • Individuals;
  • Health districts, libraries, private schools, government agencies, educational institutions, universities, preschools, and daycares;
  • Schools are not eligible to apply by themselves but can apply in partnership with an eligible organization (such as a Community Association). Activities held in schools or organized by schools must be:
  • O held outside of regular school hours;
  • O separate and distinct from the regular school curriculum; and,
  • O not just for the students at a particular school.
  • Organizations that:
  • O exist for the primary purpose of fundraising; or,
  • O have not met the terms and conditions of any funding program administered by the City of Saskatoon.
  • Ineligible expenses include construction, maintenance, food, prizes, out-of-province activities, and full-time employment wages exceeding 455 hours.
