Overview of the Farm Business Registration (FBR) program:

The Farm Business Registration (FBR) program is designed to support Ontario farmers by providing access to essential agricultural organizations, which offer valuable resources and advocacy for the farming community. This program ensures that farmers can contribute to the collective voice of the agriculture sector, helping shape policies that impact their businesses.

Benefits of the Farm Business Registration (FBR) program:
  • Membership in Accredited Farm Organizations (AFOs): Registered farms can choose to be a member of one of Ontarios three AFOs, gaining access to resources, advocacy, and networking opportunities.
  • Access to Programs and Services: Being registered allows farmers to participate in other government programs and services that may require FBR enrollment as a prerequisite.
  • Policy Influence: By being part of an AFO, farmers can have a say in shaping policies that affect the agricultural industry in Ontario.
Eligibility criteria of the Farm Business Registration (FBR) program:
  • In order to be eligible for a 2024 Farm Business Registration Number, you must declare a minimum of $7,000 in gross farming income on your 2023 income taxes that you will declare to Canada Revenue Agency.
  • If you will meet this $7,000 requirement, proof of your 2023 farming income will be required once you file your taxes to Canada Revenue Agency.
  • All New Registrations are filled out over the phone with a Customer Care Representative.
