Overview of the HCDC Business Loans program:

The Green Initiative Program provides loans at a reduced interest rate for businesses and organizations undertaking initiatives that will lower their carbon footprint. Through the Green Initiatives loan program, HCDC provides loans up to $30,000 at a reduced interest rate for initiatives that will lower the carbon footprint of the business. This is part of our Green Commitment; to encourage and support initiatives of organizations and businesses that will lessen the carbon of businesses and institutions in Haliburton County an contribute to the development of businesses that address environmental challenges and climate change.

Eligibility criteria of the HCDC Business Loans program:
  • Location:
  • Your business must be located within the Haliburton County area in Ontario, Canada.
  • Business Type:
  • The loan is available to a wide range of businesses, including startups, existing businesses, and expansions. Both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations may apply.
  • Viable Business Plan:
  • You must present a strong and viable business plan that demonstrates the potential for success. This includes market analysis, operational strategy, and financial projections.
  • Financial Stability:
  • Your business should demonstrate sound financial management and the ability to repay the loan. This includes providing up-to-date financial statements and a positive credit history.
  • Legal Structure:
  • Your business must be legally structured (e.g., sole proprietorship, partnership, corporation) and comply with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Purpose of Loan:
  • The funds must be used for business purposes such as startup costs, expansion, equipment purchase, working capital, or other eligible business activities that will promote growth and sustainability.
  • Commitment to Community:
  • Preference may be given to businesses that contribute positively to the local economy and community development in Haliburton County.
